Pushkar Mela, Rajasthan

Pushkar Mela At the Full Moon (Poornima) of Kartik month (October - November) of Hindu calendar, a large number of camels travel their way across the golden sands of Rajasthan to collect at Pushkar for the week-long fair devoted to them. This is the famous Pushkar Fair held at Pushkar, a small place, situated 11 km from Ajmer, in the state of Rajasthan. The distinct features of the Pushkar Fair are spectacular fair grounds filled with beautifully decorated camels and cattles, adventurous competitions, events, thousands of people, meditating sadhus, holy dip in the Pushkar Lake, large number of stalls, folk dances and gaily dressed people from all over the world. Over the years, this fair is one of the major cultural reflectors of Rajasthan and people from different parts of the world gather to participate in the various events there.
